Tooth whitening is carried out using a custom made gum shield and bleaching gel which you can use for a couple of hours during the day or overnight. This method is simple and easily controlled by yourself to reach your desired shade, normally taking around 2-3 weeks. The cost of this is £320.

How it works:

Tooth whitening is a process which aims to enhance the colour of your teeth to a whiter appearance using a bleaching method. As we age our teeth naturally darken or discolour. Added to this drinking tea, coffee and red wine and eating certain foods can all add to the problem as does the build up of plaque and tartar. People who smoke will see a dramatic darkening and disolouration of their teeth.

The products we use usually contain a chemical called Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide. As these breakdown they allow oxygen to enter the outer layer of the enamel and as a result the teeth become whiter. The effects can last anything from 12 weeks to 3 years but its success can depend on many factors and the individual having the treatment.

Will bleaching work on my crowns, veneers or false teeth?

Unfortunately it will not and we would have to gradually change them with to a lighter coloured version.
